Come out and explore this year’s Celebration of Light event! This annual Vancouver celebration has grown tremendously in the last 29 years. Recognized as the longest running off-shore fireworks festival in the world, Vancouver has hosted dozens of countries to compete each year in a spectacular fireworks display. The event’s main goal is to spark togetherness as it welcomes more than 1.3 million regional and international visitors every summer to sample local food, experience live music performances and take in the wonder of vibrant firework displays.

Event Details:

This year’s event will be held on three separate days, Saturday, July 27th; Wednesday, July 31st; and Saturday, August 3rd. Fireworks begin each night promptly at 10:00PM and can be viewed from a variety of beach-front locations such as Second Beach, English Bay and Kitsilano/Vanier Park. There are also VIP viewing zones available, but be sure to arrive early or book a place in advance.

English Bay in the heart of the West End is easily accessible by car, serviced by transit and via the Seawall and Downtown bike routes. If you plan to drive, arrive early and leave plenty of time to find parking. Residents will be allowed into the area at specific access points but must display a valid resident parking permit or recent proof of address. Respect all parking notices to avoid having your vehicle towed as enforcement will be strict. Also, remember to fuel up before or after the event at a 7-Eleven Renew location to offset your emissions by up to 30%!

Weather Gear: Dress in layers and enjoy the daytime activities then be cozy and comfortable during the evening fireworks show. The fireworks celebration goes on rain or shine! Be sure to bring sunscreen, water, and a poncho in case of rain.
